We are happy to share that we are now aiming to finalize the PC version of Ships At Sea in 2027. Our goal is to release the fully completed PC version together with the console versions, ensuring a simultaneous launch across platforms.
As we are committed to delivering top-tier visuals and performance using the latest technology in Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, the console release will target Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. We believe this approach allows us to meet the highest quality standards and provide the best possible experience for all players.
Why Ships At Sea Will Launch on Consoles Alongside the Final PC Version
Quality Standards and Certification
Console platforms such as PlayStation and Xbox have strict certification requirements. Games must meet rigorous technical and quality standards before release. By aligning the console launch with the finalized PC version, we ensure the game is fully polished, stable, and ready to meet those expectations.
Development Focus and Stability
During Early Access, our primary focus is on refining systems, improving gameplay, and expanding content based on player feedback. This stage involves frequent updates and iterations, which are far more flexible on PC. Console platforms require a more structured update process, including certification for patches, which would significantly slow development during this active phase.
Optimization and Performance
Bringing Ships At Sea to consoles requires deep optimization to ensure smooth performance across fixed hardware configurations. By waiting until the PC version is finalized, we can dedicate the necessary time to properly optimize and adapt the game for console hardware without compromising quality.
Player Experience
Early Access is, by nature, a development phase. While PC players understand and participate in that process, we want console players to experience Ships At Sea in its best and most complete form from day one. Launching simultaneously ensures that all players receive a polished and stable experience.
Efficient Resource Allocation
Supporting multiple platforms requires significant development resources. By focusing on completing and polishing the PC version first, we ensure the foundation is solid. This allows us to efficiently transition to console development and deliver a stronger final product across all platforms.
By continuing Early Access development on PC and planning a simultaneous full release across PC and consoles in 2027, we can ensure that Ships At Sea reaches its full potential.
Thank you for your understanding and for being part of this journey with us.
