If your game does not load any more and you get an error like sas.exe
are missing or something similar.
This error indicates that not all of the required files can be found when trying to start the game. This can happen for two reasons:
- Your antivirus program has probably deleted or quarantined one or more game-related files.
- You may need to run Steam as an administrator to give it access to all the game files.
Steps to Restore and Prevent Future Quarantine
1. Locate the Quarantined File
- Open your antivirus software (e.g., Windows Defender, Norton, Bitdefender).
- Navigate to Quarantine or Threat History.
- Locate the entry for
sas.exe
.
2. Restore the File
- Select the
sas.exe
entry and choose Restore or Allow on Device (wording may vary). - Confirm you trust the source (if it's from Misc Games or your development).
3. Add to Exception List
To prevent it from being removed again:
- Go to Settings > Exclusions (or Allow List).
- Add the path to
sas.exe
or the entire folder it’s in.
4. Re-download or Recompile (if necessary)
- If it’s deleted completely, you might need to:
- Recompile the game/build.
- Retrieve the file from version control or a clean backup.
